When the current is very low; static electricity has a very high voltage but little current. On the other hand very high current won't even penetratrate the skin if the voltage is low. It takes both and AC is worse than DC because it can disrupt nerve impulses that control the heart.

What is the high pod test?

A high pot test is a test of a wiring system for high potential (voltages). It's also called a megger test. This test verifies the integrity of a wire's insulation, and ensures that high voltages cannot escape through cracks in the insulation smaller than the human eye can see.

What are the standard voltages for transmission?

The standard voltage for transmission is about 115 to 1,200 kV (long-distance transmission). The extreme high voltages are measured more than 2,000 kV and it is exists between conductor and ground.Answer for UKThe standard transmission voltages in the UK are 400 kV and 275 kV. Primary distribution voltages are 132 kV and 33 kV, and secondary distribution voltages are 11 kV and 400 V. These are all line voltages -i.e. voltages measured between line conductors.

When electricity travels long distances it is better to have it at higher voltages?

when transmission we usually use high voltages becoz at higher voltages current is less(p=vi,voltage is inversly proportional to current at constant power) so that we can minimize copper losses i2R losses.

What are the Advantages and disadvantages of delta and wye transformers?

copper losses Comment: Advantages: Their operation is silent They have a high efficiency They are relatively safe Disadvantages Expensive Copper losses and hysteress losses

Why is alternating current low voltage?

Alternating current is not necessairly low voltage, on the controrary AC is more oftenly used for when high voltage is needed. Most power distribution systems (extremely high voltages) use AC because AC is easier to transform to high voltages (using the aptly named transformer). High voltage is needed for power distribution to decreases losses due to transmission.

How are relays safe?

Relays can be considered safe when used for remote switching. It only takes a small, low voltage current to activate a relay, which can then switch a high voltage, high current supply. There is no electrical connection between the coil and contacts. So switching dangerous voltages can be done at a distance, without anyone getting near the dangerous voltages.

Why are power lines run at high voltages?

Power lines run at high voltages to overcome line loss.

What does the phrase Is relatively safe mean?

The phrase "is relatively safe" means the person is guessing that more probable than not, the thing being discussed should be mostly safe. (Or that is is "relatively safe to say")Examples:It is relatively safe to say that the bothersome coyote won't be back after the town set off an hour's worth of fireworks. No one has seen him since. She thought it was relatively safe to walk her dog on the wooded trail behind her house, but knew there could be a risk. The mom thought the old milk was probably relatively safe, but her son suffered food poisoning because the milk has spoiled.

What is high voltage in marine system?

In the marine system, what is considered high voltages are 3.3 kV, 6.6 kV, and 11 kV. The low voltages, on the other hand, are below 1 kV.

Is 110v or 220v safer?

Neither are safe voltages unless used in the correct and sensible manner.

What are some cautions to electrical energy?

It's dangerous at high voltages.

What is voltage grade of cable?

Voltage Grade of cables specifies the safe voltages which the insulation of the cable can withstand.

Is this dangerous to take with Celexa medication?

Every medication is dangerous if you take high dose, abuse it, or allergic to it. In general, celexa is relatively safe at the recommended dose.

Is relatively an adverb or adjective?

It is an adverb. It is most frequently an adverb of degree, modifying adjectives (relatively safe) or adverbs (relatively easily).

Do not enter high voltage?

Substations may contain uninsulated high-voltage lines, busbars, and other equipment. Although this live equipment is mounted at a safe distance from trained personnel, those unaware of the hazards may approach the live equipment without realising that the voltages are high enough to break down the insulation of the air if they should approach within the safe distance limits, with lethal results.
