Well it is unique to the food web. In other words, if you add an alligator to a Saharan ecosystem, it would do nothing pretty much, but if you add a colony of Lions to a forest biome, it would drastically decrease the amount of animals that would be the lions' prey, which would in turn decrease the amount of lions and other animals in the ecosystem because of starvation or food competition.
It would Increase or stay the same becuz More Food for Prey = More prey Nd More Prey = More food For Predator Get it I Tryd to Make This Easy For You To Understand and IM SUrprised I Pay attenstion in Biology :D

If food resources would run out there would be issues with starvation. Food is a necessary resource in order for humans and animals to survive.
it would send out pseudopods to engulf the prey
then the prey will run out of food. Soon those animals might become endangered and that will cause a ripple in the ocean.
they grow... THE FOOD CHAIN GOES DOWN FAST though
if vegetation decreases then the food supply for prey becomes very limited, some prey might not get enough food intake and die, this could happen reguarly and therefore prey would decrease. By the way if this was to happen then predators would become limited too because they wouldn't have enough prey to eat. All in all there wouldn't be enough food to go around and therefore prey would not have enough food and all prey could die off. (This is incedibly unformal)
predators and prey do depend on each other in that the predators rely on prey for food and they keep population of prey in check which if they did not there would be over population and food for prey would be decreased and they could die from lack of food.
If any animal was removed from the food web the animals that it would prey on would overpopulate and the animals that hunted it would starve because it has nothing to feed on.
The population of the prey would grow until they exhausted their own food supply and would become extinct.
What happens is the prey species has a run away growth of population. Followed by depletion of food supply, starvation and death.
If you would remove a crocodile from a food web then species would die out as they are not getting the certain source of food however; there could be an increase of certain types of species as they will no longer have that predator in the food chain. So the prey will survive.
