The thing that seperates us from third world counties is sanitary Plumbing. A young man would be wise to consider a career in plumbing. In Texas and most other states the trade is licensed and protected. No one can do your job that is not licensed to do so. Much the same as nurses, doctors, electricians, lawyers and so forth. No matter what the economy is people still need plumbing. I recomend that you go into the repair business. New construction is very closley tied to the new housing industry, and is so compeditive that wages are usually a little low. But repair you need to have a little personality and common sense. But it usually pays more. Commercial repair is a great field because you are working with companies that just need it fixed and the price is not a simportant, But it requires a lot more knowledge. There are fewer and fewer young men coming into the plumbing field because i thing the younger generation doesn't have the work ethic of other generations. It's not a n easy job physicaly but if you don't mind getting your hands dirty, it's a career that they will pay you while you train. Most companies will pay a fellow $8-$10 an hour to train. then after you get the propper licenses, you can make around $45,00-$100,00 a year depending on where you work and what companies you work for.
