I just had a wood burning whole house stove installed by a pro chimney dude.
Within 2 months, the flue pipe for the chimney was leaking smoke into the house.
It was leaking at the pipe joints. I went out and bought some muffler repair tape at the auto store. It's made by Permatex and is rated at 1000 degrees.
It stopped the leak and continues to work fine.
To seal a gas flue from a furnace, first ensure the flue is properly disconnected from the furnace. Use high-temperature silicone sealant or a metal flue cap to cover the opening, ensuring it is airtight to prevent gas leaks. Additionally, inspect the area for any cracks or gaps and seal them with appropriate materials, such as metal tape or a chimney cap, to ensure proper sealing and safety. Always follow local building codes and regulations for gas appliances.

loop seal is provided to stop the material from furnace to return leg back.It works with the help of diffrential pressure. There is the difference in the pressure of air beteen furnace and return leg.
it is defined as the pipe cemented in the well to seal off formation fluids and to keep the hole from caving in.
The pipe installed for the purpose of ventilation is known as a vent pipe while a pipe which is installed in a house drainage to preserve the water seal of trap is an anti-siphonage pipe.

If the correct fittings are used and properly installed,no sealing should be necessary. ----- Sometimes there is a small gap, and if this is a problem, it can be filled with stove cement.
Depends were the oil is coming from? Gasket seal blown? burst pipe? cracked oil sump etc......
When installing a furnace exhaust pipe made of PVC, it is important to follow these best practices: Use PVC pipe that is approved for use with high-temperature applications. Ensure the pipe is properly supported and secured to prevent sagging or shifting. Maintain proper clearances from combustible materials to prevent fire hazards. Use appropriate fittings and connectors to create a tight seal and prevent leaks. Follow manufacturer guidelines and local building codes for installation.
Plumbers putty can be used to seal a leaky pipe by applying it around the area where the leak is occurring. The putty creates a watertight seal that helps prevent water from leaking out of the pipe.
To effectively seal a copper pipe, you can use a soldering technique. This involves heating the joint where the pipe connects and applying solder to create a watertight seal. Make sure to clean the pipe and fittings thoroughly before soldering to ensure a secure bond.

What kind of pipe, what feeds the pipe, and where is it located? If it is a floor drain, put some vegetable oil down the p-trap to seal the trap and stop the sewer gases from coming back.
To seal a PVC drain pipe with a cap, the best way is to apply PVC primer and cement to the pipe end and inside the cap, then firmly press the cap onto the pipe and hold it in place for a few seconds to allow the adhesive to set. This creates a strong and watertight seal for the drain pipe.

The purpose of a p-trap pipe in a plumbing system is to prevent sewer gases from entering the building and to maintain a water seal that allows waste to flow out while blocking odors from coming back in.
