On older models that utilize mechanical timers [internal "cam" wheels] the timing is fixed by the lobes on the wheels, and the relationship of the wheels for the different operational sequences are rigidly fixed in relation to each other. On the newer solid state electronic timers, the timing is pre-programed into the ICs [integrated circuit chips]. Unless the chips are reprogramable, then they too cannot be "calabrated."j3h.
