Design and build can be a much faster process than traditional. Traditional procurement relies on a much slower process, such as creating a bill of quantities. Traditional is used more for "one off" buildings that may be quite complex.
Clients such as Asda, Tesco etc may want to use Design and build as most of there projects use a lot of standard components (an asda in London could be identical to one in Edinburgh!). D&B means the main contractor is responsible for the design and the construction of the project.
D&B can be used when the client needs to fast track the building and have cost certainty. Almost 70% of traditional contracts end up over budget, compared to D&B which is only around 25-30% over budget.

Maybe because if we build a train with non-metal it will not able to carry heavy loads which a train build with metal can easily do
to do things humans can not do
Great question. Design-build has become synonymous with fast tracking a project. This is a false understanding of the reasoning behind design-build. In a regular project or type of construction, there are a set of plans with all of the required engineering. This means that the total project has been conceptualized and planed, down to the fine details. In design build project an architects concept has been drawn. Most design build projects stop here and get a permit so that the owners time tables can be met. While construction begins, engineering is continuing, and we tend to call it a design build project. All of the engineering comes latter for times sake. More of a fast track than a design build. In a real design build project the architect's concept is there but the engineering is in question as to how the project will actually work. Most have some, if not all of the required engineering, or at least an overall concept of the engineering plan that include drawings and details. The reasoning for design build is that the engineering concepts are only that, concepts, and have not been actually proven in other than theory, or not to the scales that they are being implimented in the project. Engineering details may change with actual numbers and this is foreseen or planed. The reason for design build is that there are expected changes or unanswered questions in the engineering that can not be fully answered until the building is to the point in construction that the engineer can make a full determination or actual measurements, loads and/or calculations. Others may (and will) disagree, but this is my understanding of the true meaning of DESIGN-BUILD. ! Terry
The phases of a design process that statistics might be most applicable are is the production stage.
There are several forms of procurement. Some of these include traditional procurement, design and build procurement, and management contacting procurement.
why nor search first?
What is the status of the design and build with the new public sector contracts?

Construction design-build offers several advantages, including streamlined communication and collaboration between the design and construction teams, which can lead to faster project delivery. This integrated approach often results in cost savings, as it minimizes changes and reduces conflicts that can arise in traditional design-bid-build models. Additionally, it allows for a single point of accountability, simplifying project management for clients and enhancing overall project efficiency.
I couldn't find any disadvantages but advantages are - Most self Builders prefer traditional build. - Good at keeping the house at a stable temperature. - Good sound insulation - Similar prices to Mordern Builds. - Materials can be obtaines within days.
It costs allot of money to build It takes allot of time to build
they were expensive to build
Nothing, Architects design, builders build!!!
advantages are that they stop the waves having as much power disadvantages are that they are ugly and take time to build
Yes, my children have mixed and matched build a bear and design a bear clothes and teddies.
