There are several different valve train systems used today. The oldest system that is still used is the pushrod valve train system. This system uses camshaft(s), valve lifters, pushrods, and rocker arms (see above pic). The shortfall of this system is the amount of parts.

Another valve system is the overhead cam valve train engine. This eliminates alot of the parts needed to complete the task. It is used more in newer vehicles. The shortfall of this type is the overall hieght of the engine, but the enhancement of it is the ease of more valves that can be used. Some having as many as four valves per cylinder. Also an advantage is even that the valves sre smaller, there is more area than a single large valve.

Why was coal used for boats and trains?

It was used to fuel their steam engines, which was their method of locomotion back then.

Why is coal no longer used in trains?

Coal is still used in many steam engines today. Coal is not used on diesel trains or electric trains simply because it is not fuel for them. Electric trains and diesel trains are the most common trains in use, and not trains capable of using coal, because they are more efficent and much less costly to maintain.

What is difference between old trains and new trains?

The difference between old and new trains is in their running gear and method of propulsion. Old trains used coal and steam while modern trains use diesel engines to power electrical motors.

What instrument can be used to measure dynamic Valve Clearance?

A feeler gauge is typically used to measure dynamic valve clearance in internal combustion engines. The gauge is inserted between the valve stem and the rocker arm to determine the correct clearance while the engine is running.

What is a valve compression wrench?

It's actually a type of clamp used to install or remove valve springs in auto engines .

How are steam engines used?

In the years ranging from 1825 to about 1964, steam engines were used on the railway transportation systems of most of the world. steam trains are the locomotives that have the large wheels. ( google your local railway museum ) mean while, from 1890 to 1920, steam engines where used as steam tractors used for field work. today, most steam trains today, are gone. however, steam engines are used to power electric genorators. By the way, they also expiramented with a steam car too, some sucedded. but had a tendency to blow up in your face. today most steam trains, tractors, and cars. have been replaced by gasoline and diesel engines.

Where is the PCV valve located on an 84 Isuzu pup?

Some early Isuzu engines actually did not have a PCV valve, they used a metered orifice in a vacuum line from the valve cover to the air cleaner. This was not very effective if the engine had any blowby, so it wasn't used on later engines.

How do trains run on coal?

Only (some) steam engines used coal. It was burnt in a boiler to heat water to steam.

Who invented a system that used electric power rather than steam engines to run trains?

Basically it was Tom Edison.

Can gas turbine engine be used in trains?

Gas turbine engine deals with high temperature and pressure. So it is difficult to use it. However if certain modifications are done in it , it can probably be used in trains. And if this is done the trains would be very high speed. as it is gasturbine engines which powers aeroplanes
