A bad resistor is a resistor that has failed to perform its intended function, often due to damage, overheating, or manufacturing defects. This can result in incorrect resistance values, leading to circuit malfunctions or failures. Signs of a bad resistor may include physical damage, discoloration, or an open circuit reading when tested with a multimeter. In electronic circuits, bad resistors can disrupt the flow of current and affect the overall performance of the device.
Yes, a faulty AC resistor can cause the air conditioning system not to work properly. The resistor controls the speed of the blower motor, and if it fails, the motor may not operate at all or may only work at one speed. This can lead to inadequate airflow and ineffective cooling. Therefore, addressing a bad AC resistor is essential for restoring proper function to the AC system.
cause its bad, replace with higher wattage rating.too much current !!
You don't, you read the tolerance markings. If you measure the resistor and it is outside the marked tolerance it is bad.
A cement resistor is typically used as a power resistor (a resistor whose power rating is greater than 1 W).
we can say that a resistor gone bad if 1. its resistance is different than that printed by the color code 2. doesn't conduct any current Resistors normally will burn open. Carbon resistors almost always do this, while wireound resistors can lower in resistance. They may still allow current flow, but it will not be correct.
A malfunctioning blower motor resistor will cause the blower motor not to work. When the resistor is bad the blower motors will not turn on.
Usually if the resistor is bad the heater will only run on full blast.
Bad coil? Bad rotor? Bad distributor cap? Bad Ballast resistor?
If you are missing the lower speeds but still have high speed, the resistor is bad.
either the control head is bad or there is a blower motor resistor that is bad.
Yes it can. If there is a bad wire in your harness the ballast resistor will get hot, in which causes your coil to overheat and cut out or burn outline.
Blown blower motor fuse? Bad blower motor or resistor? Check to see if you are getting power to motor - if so motor is bad if not check fuse and/or resistor Bad switch?
Blown fuse? Bad switch Bad fan motor? Bad fan relay?
Bad resistor ? Bad switch?
A bad blower resistor will not make a vibrating noise by itself. Carefully remove the blower resistor (under the dash at the passenger side right foot area.) check to see that it is not hitting the fan. PS a bad blower resistor usually means that the blower will only operate at high speed. Usually a small fusible link on the resistor ceramic opens. Can be replaced with a small link of unmelted solder.
blower motor won't work
Check to see if you have 12 volts at the blower motor. If yes then the blower motor is bad. If no, then the resistor, relay, or fuse is bad.
