The mysql_ functions were deprecated for a number of reasons:

  • The functions are 15 years old
  • They are incredibly low-level
  • It is very difficult to apply correctly and securely
  • Because of that, it is very hard for new PHP users, yet is a very important and common function-set that needs to be simple for new users to implement securely
  • Being so old, it also lacks many features such as: stores procedures, prepared statements, ssl encryption, compression, full charset support, and many more

What is drawback of writing the definitions of all the functions before main function?

If you write out the functions before you write main, you will probably have to return to the functions after outlining main and correct them so that they interact with main as they should. In the long run, it is far better to write main first, so that you understand exactly what you want each function to do before you write the function, so that you don't have to go back and correct them.

How can you access private functions of a class from the Main function in Cpp?

Any member functions and data members declared as 'private' in a class, can only be accessed directly by functions within the class. They cannot be accessed directly by derived objects, nor from anywhere outside an object of the class, such as from the Main function. To access private class members, you must rely on what are called accessor functions. Accessor functions are functions inside the class, either public or protected, which automatically have access to private members. If a function from Main, or elsewhere outside the class hierarchy, needs access, then you need to use publicaccessor functions. For derived class access, you can use protected accessor functions.

What are the advantages of PostgreSQL over MySQL?

The main difference that I see is Postgres' advanced support for things like Views, Stored Procedures, Transactions and other more advanced database functions. This is not to say that MySQL does not support these, however Postgres' advanced features are tuned to be highly performative. Also, Postgres supports more concurrent users than MySQL. That all being said, if you web application is a relatively simple, mostly read-only, and doesn't require large number of concurrent connections, MySQL is probably the better way to go, as it is performatively optimized for reading, and is simpler to install, maintain, and has better third-party tool suppport. :)
