i hope this may be correct answer but iam not sure

this is because if the short circuit test is performed first, because of induction effect

some amount of energy is stored in the transformer or motor and while performing the open circuit test there may be a chance of getting error bcz of stored charge as in open circuit test the amount of current is vvv less wnen compared to short ckt

How will be conduct test on transformer?

Short circuit test and open circuit test are widely used to test the efficiency of the transformer.

What instrument would you use to test for an open circuit?

The general answer is that a continuity tester is used to check for an open circuit.

Open circuit and short circuit test?

Open circuit means the circuit is not continuous . A short circuit is continuous but has a fault connecting between either live to neutral or earth .As result of this we saw that this answer is unsufficent to explain short and open circuit on the other hand you can use this answer also like i did:)

When resistance and continuity test are made on electronic circuit components the circuit being tested should be?

Open

What does reading of wattmeter indicate in case of open circuit test of transformer?

In case of open circuit test of transformers we measure iron losses and hence the power lost here is being measured by the wattmeter.

Why low power factor wattmeter is used for open circuit test of transformer?

For open circuit test of transformer, the secondary is open circuit and the circuit impedance is largely inductive due to the core impedance having high L as compared to R. hence the power factor is reduced, thus , we use low power factor wattmeters.

Why open circuit test on rated voltage?

it just happens that way retard

What is the purpose of open circuit test and short circuit test of a transformer?

An open-circuit test is done with the transformer running at its rated voltage but with no load. This measures the power lost in the magnetic core. (IR Losses) A short-circuit test is done with the transformer running at its full rated current in all windings but at a low voltage. The secondary is shorted and the primary voltage is adjusted to give the rated current. This measures the power lost in the copper windings. (Copper losses)

Why is it assumed that during open circuit all the losses are core losses?

Since this is an open circuit test, there is no load attached, thus all losses must be internal to the transformer.

How do you test a closed circuit?

we can make an open circuit by disconnecting the wire or break the circuit and a closed circuit is made by connecting all wires with the contents of the circuits.

What happens when a start capacitor fails?

An open circuit, by definition, has no continuity, therefore there is no current flow. A failed capacitor in an open circuit would have absolutely no effect.

Why rated current should flow in the secondary for short circuit test in transformer?

Open Circuit test is done to find out core losses of the transformers.which include Eddy Current Losses and Hysteresis Losses only, if during open circuit test secondary will have some load then I2R losses due to load current in secondary as well primary will be included in test results which is not desired while performing Open circuit test.
