reinforced concrete is better than unreinforced concrete for one major reason.

concrete is an extremely strong material when it is put under pressure. however, when tension forces are introduced it will tend to fail without reinforcement.

short answer: unreinforced concrete will handle a lot of weight, but it is very brittle.

What is hybrid fiber reinforced concrete?

The concrete in which more than one fiber types are used as secondary reinforcement is called hybrid fiber reinforced concrete.

Why is concrete better than wood?

concrete is better than wood because concrete is much stronger and that's why most of the building are made out of it

What is the difference between reinforced concrete and pre stressed concrete?

Reinforced concrete has reinforcing bars (called rebar) simply embedded in the pour. With prestressed concrete, reinforcing rods or cables are stretched (stressed) and then the concrete is poured around them. After the concrete hardens, the tension on the reinforcing members compresses the concrete, making it more resistant to failure where poor soil conditions or severe loads exist.Prestressed construction is usually done in-plant because of the equipment involved, and the completed assembly shipped to the site for installation.A similar method, called post-tension, is usually done on site, and involves the tensioning of reinforcing cables after the slab is poured, using a special hydraulic jack.

What is stronger concrete or cement?

Concrete is stronger than cement. It is composed of aggregates (sand and gravel) and cement; and may be cast with reinforcing bar within it (reinforced concrete). Cement is only a part of concrete. Cement has no tensile strength while concrete has compressive and tensile strength.

Why is aerated concrete a better insulator than normal concrete?

Air has a higher specific heat capacity (at 1.0035 J/(g*K)) than concrete (.880 J/(g*K)).Specific heat capacity is the measure of the heat energy required to increase the temperature of a unit quantity of a substance by unit degree (Wikipedia). Because air requires more joules of energy per gram to raise it one degree Kelvin than concrete does, it is therefore a better insulator.

What is an under reinforced beam?

Under reinforced is that in which provided steel ratio is less than balanced steel ratio. Concrete beams are designed as under reinforced beams. The reason is that the failure start by yielding of steel instead of crushing of concrete. Mian Yaqoob

What is GRC?

One meaning of GRC is Glassfibre Reinforced Concrete, which is concrete manufactured with a mixture of cement, fine aggregate, water, chemical admixtures and alkali resistant glassfibres. GRC, sometimes known as GFRC or Glass Fiber Reinforced Concrete, panels can be manufactured much thinner than traditional steel reinforced concrete, making it much lighter and more environmentally friendly.

What is the difference Between under reinforced section and over reinforced section?

When the maximum stresses in steel and concrete simultaniously reaches allowable value the section is called balanced section when the %of steel in a section is less than that required for a balanced section it is under reinforced section when the %of steel in a section is more than that required for a balanced section it is over reinforced sectionover reinforcement is as per section design I.e Ast1+Ast2>Ast Ast1+Ast2

What is GFRC?

The meaning of GFRC is Glass Fiber Reinforced Concrete, in some areas of the world known as GRC or Glassfibre Reinforced Concrete. GFRC / GRC is concrete manufactured with a mixture of cement, fine aggregate, water, chemical admixtures and alkali resistant glassfibres. GFRC / GRC panels can be manufactured much thinner than traditional steel reinforced concrete, making it much lighter and more environmentally friendly. See The International Glassfibre Reinforced Concrete Association (GRCA) web site at grca.org.uk for more information on this versatile construction material.

yes. 1200 denier reinforced nylon is much better than 1000 denier cordura nylon. Hands down.

Is tar road better than concrete road?

it smells better

Is GFRC the same thing as precast?

NO.GFRC stands for glass fiber reinforced concrete. Precast is concrete (typically reinforced with steel) poured at a factory (rather than cast at the job site)For GFRC information see http:/www.strombergarchitectural.com/materials/gfrc for gfrc guidebooks, technical information etc.

Why mud houses better than concrete houses in summer?

no

Is concrete has a better coefficient of friction than asphalt?

Yes, concrete typically has a higher coefficient of friction than asphalt due to its rougher texture. This makes concrete surfaces less slippery and provides better traction for vehicles and pedestrians.
