What Onomatopoeia does a lock make when it locks?

Well, honey, when a lock locks, it goes "click." Simple as that. It's not rocket science, just the sound of a lock doing its job. Now go ahead and lock up that door before someone sneaks in and steals your snacks.

What is the word or phrase that one calls out to bring in people when playing hide and seek?

Olly olly oxen free (and variants: ollie ollie umphrey, olly-olly-ee, outtie outtie lets be free, all-y all-y all set free, Ollie Ollie in come free, ally alley ocean free, etc.) is a catchphrase used in such children's games as hide and seek to indicate that players who are hiding can come out into the open without losing the game, that the position of the sides in a game has changed (as in which side is in the field or which side is at bat or "up" in baseball or kickball), or, alternatively, that the game is entirely over. It is thought to derive from the phrase "All ye, all ye 'outs' in free,","All the outs in free" or possibly "Calling all the 'outs' in free;" in other words: all who are "out" may come in without penalty. Various calls used for such purposes have gone by the collective name of "ollyoxalls" in some places. There is also some speculation that the phrase originates from the German phrase "alle alle auch sind frei", which loosely translated means "everyone is also free". Mispronunciation of this by non-German children resulted in the current "olly olly oxen free".The phrase can also be used to coordinate hidden players in the game kick the can, in which a group of people hide within a given radius and a "seeker" is left to guard a can filled with rocks. The seeker has to try to find the "hiders" without allowing them to sneak in and kick the can. In many areas the phrase used is "All-y all-y in come free", to tell the remaining hidden players it is time to regroup in order to restart the game. The phrase is announced by a hider who successfully sneaks in and kicks the can.All-y all-y in come free is phonetically very similar to the Dutch phrase " Alle Alle inkom vrij" (Everyone is allowed in free/ all free entrance)An old version of the phrase is "all ye, all ye, all come free."[

What is the plot of Witch Child by Celia Rees?

This is a story of a girl named Mary. The story is her diary and she starts by saying "I am Mary. I am a witch. Mary is smart, she can read and write; a talent not many women have in 1659. Her grandmother is accused of being a witch, they take her away and she is hanged. Immediately after the hanging, Mary is wisked away in a carriage. She soon realized that the woman helping her escape is her mother, who she is now meeting for the first time. Her mother gives her some supplies and sends her off with the puritans to America to create a new life, for she will definitely die for being a witch if she stays. Life with the puritans is difficult, but Mary works hard and tries to fit in. She befriends and Indian named Jaybird and his grandfather named White Eagle. She finds she fits in well with the Indians. The puritans believe that they are of the Devil and should be avoided at all costs; however, Mary learns a lot from Jaybird and sneaks off to the woods to spend time with him. The Reverend Johnson's wife dies in childbirth and soon the women are all competing for his attention, but the Rev. likes a woman named Rebekah. Rebekah is in love with Tobias and has been promised to him. It turns out that Rebekah gets pregnant from Tobias before they are married, so now it is impossible to marry the Rev. and if the Rev finds out she is with child, the entire family will suffer for it, as this is completely taboo, a sin against God, to have sex before you are married. Rebekah's father rejects Rev. Johnson's marriage proposal and she marries Tobias and her reputation is saved. Now, however, other girls, are jealous. A girl named Deborah wants to marry the Rev., but he does not like her. Another girl, Elizabeth loves a man named Josiah and a girl named Sarah is in love with Elias. They approach Mary and ask her to cast a spell for them, so the men they love with propose to them. They ask her to cast a spell against Rebekah. They say they see her in the woods conjuring spirits. Mary denies this. It isn't true and she warns them to stay away from Rebekah. The church is convinced that the end of days is near. The number 666 is of the Devil and they believe the year 1666 will be the end of days. The Rev. Johnson corners Mary and accuses her of casting a spell on his wife so that she will die in childbirth. Mary feels her time with the puritans may be coming to an end soon. She decides to stitch her diary in a quilt, so the Rev. will not have evidence against her. The girls Deborah, Elizabeth and Sarah start trying to conjure spirits in the woods. They dance and sing naked. They are caught dancing naked in barn and come up with the idea that they are possessed by the Devil and start fainting and writhing in pain; acting as if they are being tormented by spirits. Obidiah Wilson, the Reverend who hung Mary's grandmother, has come. He recognizes Mary and accuses her of being a witch. The girls all say that Mary is evil and she is tormenting them. Mary runs away and hides in Rebekah's birthing room because the men will not enter there. It turns out that Mary leaves the puritan town and we assume she is trying to find Jaybird and his grandfather. Mary's friends find the town very hostile and think that soon others will be accused of witchcraft and decide to leave. What happens to Mary is continued on in another book called Sorceress.
