The best season to make caramel apples is on a hot day, most likely in the summer. But if you want to use the best apples then you should make them in the apple season.

well i personally like caramel and chocolate :) or you could also add some of some nuts and maybe even some sprinkles ;) If you want some added nutrition, toasted wheat germ also has a nutty flavor, or toasted salted sunflower seeds are a nice counterpoint.
