Karma is a concept of the Vdic religions. It essentially defines the path of improvement to attain Nirvana. New Age religions in the West have adopted the works without the understanding.

• In the West karma is seem to mean "You'll get what you deserve" This is somewhat of a cultural appropriation where a word is used without knowing what the originators of the word mean.
