The setting of The Interlopers, a story by Saki, is a forest in Romania located on the eastern edge of the Carpathian Mountains, which range from the Czech Republic in the northeast to Romania in the south.
In the novel, Interlopers, the setting takes place in a narrow srtip of jealously guarded land. Though they don't mention the exact city or province you can indirectly assume its somewhere in the north because of the cold weather.
