Where does the term trots come from?

Trots are either translations ( Caesar"s Gallic Wars) a popular one) of Foreign texts, or simplified summaries of classics of literature- often with study notes and sample questions, such as Cliffs Notes and Monarch Notes. Exact nature of the origin of the term is unknown, perhaps the idea of using an assisted study aid to gain speed in getting over the course! In a weak sense comic books based on literary classics- such as Classics Illustrated can be considered trots- and they did tackle that time-honored trot subject- restyling it slightly as Caesar"s Campaigns! Great Caesar"s Ghost!
