Basically I think it would be easiest to look at it from this perspective.
There are theories and facts. Facts are truths that can be proven through experience or observation and evaluation. And theories basically are created because a phenomenon exists without an explanation and any verifiable, concrete evidence or proof, or explanation. So some strive to compile a rational strand of proposed occurences in order to try to understand how this phenomenon can exist! It is a deconstruction of something without any facts in an attempt to find a logical explanation for its existence or occurance; but if verifiable evidence or proof cannot be found to support their theory- it cannot be proven to become fact... so it remains just a theory .
Introduced by political scientist Elisabeth Noelle-Neumann in 1974, the spiral of science theory attempts to explain how public opinion is formed. It refers to how people will tend to remain silent if it becomes apparent that their views are in the minority. This is how one opinion will become dominant.

What is the abbreviation of Theory
Theory derives from the Greek theoréo meaning to look at, to observe.
A theory can be a hypothesis, conjecture, or speculation.

In science, the word "theory" is USUALLY used for well-established theoretical frameworks, that are generally accepted as being true. This is the case with the theory on protoplanets - it is generally held to be true.

A theory is a guess at what the result of something will be, based on what is already known about it. Theories will often remain unchanged, unless new evidence is found that suggests the theory is incorrect - if this is the case, the theory will be modified in order to better reflect the new evidence
In theory, they can remain unchanged for their entire existence. However, in practise, nature isn't so nice and evolution happens eventually.
Theories tend to Remain a Pseudo Fact, until proven otherwise, the theorist, is under no obligation to Prove his Theory, which makes anyone capable of writing a Theory, without using any Facts whatsoever. Of course it's always advisable to throw a few facts around within the Theory, to add some Credibility to your Theory. Remember if you could prove a theory as Fact, then it would no longer be a Theory, but a Fact.
The theory that states species remain unchanged for long periods of time and then undergo sudden changes is called punctuated equilibrium. This theory suggests that periods of stability or stasis are interrupted by episodes of rapid evolution.
Evolutionary adaptation refers to the process of organisms changing over time in order to remain alive. This evolution is a theory of natural selection.
There are several theories, but no one knows anything for certain. No records of Poe's death, including his death certificate remain.
Putting it simply, theories and ideas are not proven scientific facts, but remain as such, an idea or a theory which have yet still to be proven.
The cell theory has not been proven wrong; instead, it has been refined and expanded upon over time as new discoveries are made in the field of biology. The core principles of the cell theory, such as the idea that all living organisms are composed of cells, remain fundamental to our understanding of life.
The child has developed the concept of conservation. This is an important cognitive milestone in Piaget's theory of development and occurs during the concrete operational stage. Children are able to understand that certain properties, such as volume, mass, and number, remain the same despite changes in appearance.
