The cold start valve connections on the 1990 and 1991 Volvo 740 Wagons are generally similar, but there can be variations depending on specific engine configurations and emissions systems. It's essential to consult the vehicle's service manual or wiring diagrams for precise details, as slight differences may exist between model years or engine types. Always ensure compatibility when replacing or diagnosing issues related to the cold start valve.
Cold Start Valve. Cold start valve. I do not believe there exists a "cold start valve"
The cold start valve on a 1991 Volvo 740 is located on the intake manifold, typically near the throttle body. It is designed to inject extra fuel into the intake during cold starts to assist in starting the engine. To access it, you may need to remove the air intake duct and other components for better visibility. Always refer to a repair manual for specific instructions and diagrams.
The cold start valve is sometimes called the fifth injector. It is mounted to the intake air distribution box and is in line with the fuel rail. It has an electrical connection, a fuel inlet line and a fuel outlet line. The valve is essentially constructed the same as the regular fuel injectors. The main difference is that the cold start valve injection time is measured in seconds rather than in milliseconds like the regular injectors.
Hi the cold start valve is on the left hand side of the inlet manifold and should have a blue connector on it hope this helps..veedub_m1ck
Remove the gas line (depressurize it first), and remove the electrical connector. Then remove the two bolts that fasten the valve to the intake manifold. The valve is below the manifold so it is not very easy to access.. Installation of the new one is reverse of the removal.
On a 1989 Firebird, the cold start valve is typically located on the intake manifold, near the throttle body. It is usually positioned to the side of the manifold and is connected to the fuel rail. The valve is part of the fuel injection system and assists in providing extra fuel during cold engine starts. Always refer to the vehicle’s service manual for precise location and information.

Remove the Air cleaner completely and you will see the Cold Start Valve underneath with the wiring plug attached to it. You can instantly recognize this valve from the Allen Key screws that bolt it on to the manifold. John T
