Depends on the model post 2005 I believe you can by placing ignition key in the slot on passenger side of dashboard & simply turning to the off position. For pre 2005 corsa's you can put a booster seat or front facing baby seat on the passenger seat as long as the seat is pushed as far back on the rail as it will go. Unfortunately you CANNOT place a rear facing baby seat in the same position for some reason.
This is a safety feature that is designed to turn off the passenger airbag if there is a child (or smaller adult) in the passenger seat that the airbag is not designed for. If there isn't anyone/anything in the seat while this is happening, this would suggest a faulty sensor.
A passenger air bag can be dangerous for a kid in a child seat. The cut off switch allows the airbag to be temporarily disconnected for the safety of a child passenger.
In most newer cars, no. Older cars may not even have an airbag for the passenger. In most cars that do however, there is a weight sensor in the passenger seat that turns the airbag on only if there is someone heavy enough in the seat. This prevents the airbag from deploying if no one is in the seat and also prevents it from going off if there is a small child in the passenger seat.
The front passenger seat has a sensor built into it and is always on unless a weight between 9 and 45lbs (maybe slightly different) is placed on the seat. This is in case you put a child safety seat on the front passenger seat so as not to deploy the airbag in a collision. The sensor is also intelligent and will vary the deployment depending on how heavy the front passenger is so as to minimize any injury the airbag could cause.
Disable the passenger-size airbag. If there is no way to disable the passenger airbag, the only safe thing is to belt them in the back seat -- which is safer, and required by law in most states anyway.
The passenger airbag on a Mitsubishi L200 can easily be deactivated by flipping the switch located in the glove box. This feature is available to allow a rearward-facing child restraint to be used in that seat.
Not. If the airbag goes off it will occupy the space where the baby used to be. Drive a different vehicle.
Don't do that! The airbag is a safety device which can save the life of the passenger in case of an accident! However,as the Corvette is a 2-seat car,if you are talking about a child,I strongly recommend you to install an aftermarket Passenger Airbag ON-OFF switch. That is possible even for older car models.Contact a Chevrolet dealer.
happened to my 2007.. i got it recalibrated.. dealer told me not to put and bags or heavy objects on the seat, it throws off the sensor.. the airbag will turn off if you put about 60 pounds or lessm which is supposed to replicate a young child. ----
A passenger airbag cutoff is a safety feature in vehicles that allows the driver to disable the passenger side airbag, typically when a child seat is installed in the front passenger seat. This is important because airbags can pose a risk to smaller occupants in the event of deployment. The cutoff switch is usually located on the dashboard or in the glove compartment, and it ensures that the airbag will not deploy in an accident when turned off. This feature enhances safety for children riding in the front seat while still allowing the airbag to function normally for adult passengers.
To activate the passenger airbag in a Chrysler 300C, ensure that the vehicle is in the "Run" position with the engine on. Check the airbag status indicator on the dashboard; it should indicate that the airbag is enabled. If the airbag has been disabled (for example, due to a child seat in the front), you may need to adjust the settings or move the child seat to the rear for the airbag to activate. Always refer to the vehicle's owner manual for specific instructions and safety information.
To enable the passenger airbag on a Seat Alhambra, locate the airbag switch, which is usually found on the dashboard near the passenger side or in the glove compartment. Make sure the vehicle is turned on, then toggle the switch to the "On" position. Always check the vehicle's manual for specific instructions and ensure that there are no child seats installed in the front passenger seat, as this may automatically disable the airbag for safety reasons.
