Hard to open a glove box that doesn't exist. because the mk3 jetta doesn't come with a glove box.
To change the cabin air filter on a 2008 Volvo XC70, first locate the filter compartment behind the glove box. Open the glove box and gently remove it by releasing the stops on either side. Once the glove box is out, you'll see the cabin air filter cover; unclip it and remove the old filter. Insert the new filter in the same orientation as the old one, reattach the cover, and replace the glove box.

You can open the Honda Accord jammed glove box by gently prying on the glove box door with a flat head screwdriver. Pry on the door just above the latch.
When you open the glove box look for the strap on the right side of it. Slide it out of the slot on the glove box. Be sure to hang on to the glove box, because it will now drop open. Open the box far enough to allow the hinges to slide out from the dash, and remove it. Once you do it, it's no problem.
