There are five things it can be: the horn itself, either of the two wires running to it, the fuse or the switch. The easiest thing to sort out is the fuse. It is number 11. If this is burned out you have bigger problems: the brake lights are also on it.

Next, find out if you have voltage to the horn. Get out your meter and test both wires going to the horn. VW switches the ground, so 12v will always be on one lead. If you have a good fuse and no voltage at the horn, you need to pull two new wires: one to the fusebox, one to the switch in the steering wheel. I have you pull two wires because if one is broken the other is soon to follow.

If you have voltage, ground the other prong. If the horn doesn't honk, replace it. You can use any 12v horn, but please don't get one that plays "La Cucaracha." (Yes, they make them.)

If you have voltage and a honking horn, run a wire between the ground prong on the horn and the switch. If the horn honks, the ground wire is bad. If it doesn't, the switch - and maybe also the wire - is bad.

How do you install a horn into a 1969 VW beetle?

The horn sits under the front of the car, and it's bolted to the "frame". Undo the wires that are on the old horn, and remember where the came from so you can put them in the same order on the new horn. If you have the correct horn, the same wiring configuration should work, and you just bolt it on.

Why wont the Horn does not to work on a 1996 Honda accord?

A horn might not work on a 1996 Honda Accord because of a blown fuse. There is also the possibility that the wire was cut or damaged. The horn is part of the security system. A used car might have the horn wire cut because the previous owner was annoyed by the horn blaring when someone came near the car.

If it is the same as my 68, the horn button is held in place by a rubber o-ring under the button. carrefully work a thin, flat screw driver under the edge of the horn button and TWIST. Be careful not to chip the button. This should pop out the horn button.
