You can't fix water pumps. Once they go, they go. You'll have to replace it.
Leave it to an Audi tech, there are many things that have to be removed. If you are doing the water pump, you may want to have the timing belt, rollers, thermostat replaced as well.
It is behind the water pump on the side of the block. It is easier to jack up the front end, remove the wheel on the side that the pump is on and go through that way. Once the pump is off it is right behind it.
how do you fit a new water pump on Audi a6
typical Audi problem. The water pump is stuffed. Impeller is free wheeling on its spindle. $$$
The Audi a4 water pump is not that hard of a job for an experienced technician. At my shop we charge about 6 hours labor for the timing belt, water pump, tensioner, tensioner pulley, and idler pulley. -- All these things should be replaced at the time of the water pump. Only one special tool is required; it is a bar used to hold the cams in time while the belt is off. If you are not an experienced tech, I would not recogmend trying to perform the job. One small mistake and you could end up with bent valves, assuming you have the 30v model. .
Yes, it is. If you read the answer to replacing a water pump on an A4, with a 2.8 litre, it will explain how to do it.

To vacuum the AC lines on a 1997 Audi Quattro, first, connect a vacuum pump to the high and low service ports of the AC system. Make sure the system is off, and then run the vacuum pump for at least 30 minutes to remove moisture and air. Afterward, close the valves on the pump and check for any leaks. Once the vacuum holds steady, you can proceed to recharge the AC system with refrigerant.
This is an extremely difficult fix. If you must know, you have to remove the front bumper and radiator. It is on the left side when you are facing the car.
it is pretty hard job. you have to remove front bamper, dump coolent, remove radiator, serpent belt, timing belt before you can reach your water pump. you have to have some special tools to work on it . try to search some topic from audiforum, you can find something really detail.
