If the interior hood release on your Volvo V70 is broken, you can try accessing the hood latch directly. Look for a small access panel near the front of the driver's side wheel well or under the dashboard to reach the latch mechanism. Alternatively, you can use a flathead screwdriver or similar tool to manually push the latch while someone gently lifts the hood. If these methods don't work, consider seeking help from a professional or a Volvo specialist.

In the 2011 Volvo S40, the hood release lever is located on the driver's side, near the left side of the footwell, close to the door. It is a small, pull-type lever marked with a hood icon. Pulling this lever will release the hood latch, allowing you to open the hood. After that, you’ll need to release the secondary latch under the hood to fully lift it.

If the hood release cable is broken on your Volvo S70, you can open the hood manually by accessing the latch mechanism directly. First, locate the hood release lever under the dashboard and inspect the cable; if it's detached, you may be able to pull on the cable itself with pliers. If that doesn't work, you can reach under the front grille or use a long screwdriver to push the lever of the hood latch, which is typically located near the center. It may take some finesse, but this should allow you to lift the hood.

The interior hood release helps secure the engine compartment. Early model cars had a simple latch to open the hood. Since anyone could open the engine hood, anyone could take the battery out of the car. Adding an internal hood release increased the security to help protect the battery and other engine components from theft.
