You will need to purchase a flywheel lock, which is bolted in place of the starter. It prevents the engine from turning when removing the bolt. The bolt itself is standard thread, and usually on there good. 1/2 inch socket, breaker bar, and a 3-6 foot length of pipe over the breaker bar. Pull hard. When reinstalling, the bolt provides the preload for the oil pump. It must be properly torqued.
1998 Nissan pathfinder crankshaft pulley bolt is right handed.
The easiest way to access the pulley is to remove the front right wheel and fender liner. The pulley will be right behind the liner.

On front of engine, lower right (facing front of engine) behind harmonic balancer pulley. It is held on by two bolts (must remove balancer pulley to remove) and is the last item on the wiring harness that runs over the front of the engine.
the crank pulley bolt has standard threads.

Remove drivers side front wheel. Remove inner plastic wheel arch/guard. The crankshaft pulley is now visible To the right hand-side of the pulley is the crankshaft sensor
The bolt on the tensioner pulley are opposite of a standard thread. That is, righty loosey lefty tighty. I know this first hand because I stripped the threads on my pulley trying to remove it on my 94 Sub.
The front compression nut is right handed, however the nut hold the clutch hub is left handed.
It should be behind the crankshaft pulley. You'll need to remove the right front wheel and the weathershields to get to it. If you only need to test the wiring, don't remove the pulley. == == == ==

Lift car on jack stands, remove right wheel for better access,remove any belts, remove pulley bolt, then use a pulley remover to remove pulley, carefully pry out old seal thebn tap in new seal with mallet or plastic hammer, if pulley has ridges on it you may have to replace pulley or you might still have leaks. reinstall pulley,bolt, belts and wheel.
