The tricky part of this is that the front directional lens/housing is merely pressure-fit into the front of the car. I own a V40, made this little page(Under related links) to illustrate how to do it.
NOTE: there is a screw on top that you have to unscrew , only 1 turn will do , to loosen up the plastic "hook " in the front which is squeezed by this screw. You will easily see that screw on top of the housing. Unscrew first, the pull the whole thing forward as illustrated in the pictures.
trouble putting right front signal bulb in.
Open the engine hood. look into the area between the headlight and the turning signal. There is a tab on the turning signal. Press the tab and pull the turning light forward, the entire light will come off. Twist the bulb socket and pull to remove, replace the bulb. If you car still takes the 3157 bulb, you need to have the recall done for the new sockets from Volvo.
Check the fuse for the wipers and replace the turn signal bulb.
Get a creeper and go at it from the bottom, all of what you need is right there.

One of the front blinker bulbs is burnt out. Replace the bad bulb and the blink should function normaly. you have a front right turn signal bulb that is burned out. the resone it blinks fast is there is less load on the flasher .

First pop your hood. After you raise the hood, and your looking at the front headlights. Directly above the headlights. In each corner of the headlight is a screw. remove that screw and pull the signal light right out. turn it over to replace old bulb. Once your done reinstall turn signal. Then tighten screw back!
