To reset the message center computer on a Volvo S60 Turbo, turn the ignition to the "On" position without starting the engine. Press and hold the "Trip" button on the instrument cluster until the display changes or resets, usually taking about 10 seconds. Release the button, and the message center should be reset. Tab until you see 0 miles until service. Press and hold the reset button for 5 seconds. It should reset to 7,500.
Press the STATUS control to access the System Check function, the message center will display A/C FILTER XX% RESET FOR NEW. Press and hold the RESET control to set to 100% , the message center will display IF NEW FILTER HOLD RESET. After a successful reset, the message center will display A/C FILTER LIFE SET TO 100%.
I had the same problem, Just disconnect the battery power for 8 seconds, this will reset the computer, then reconnect the battery this should get the message to erase and your AC should work. This worked for me on a 96 SLS
Drive it for a few miles and see if it goes out, sometimes the computer has to reset itself.

The service engine light can be reset on your Jeep Commander, by switching the message center to the oil life message. Once on the message, hold the check mark until it returns to 100%.
