There is no cable as in conventional mechanical odometers, instead the odometer in your Volvo is electronic, sensing pulses from a sender located on top of the rear differential.

The arrow light in your Volvo indicates that you are driving it as a 3 speed.You can change this by simply pushing button on side of your shifter.If you do, you change it over to a 4 speed which is best for interstate driving.I learned this by reading my Volvo 740 manual.:-) Hope this helps ya.

to change the distributor on a 740 Volvo undo the 3 captive bolts that attach it to the back of the rocker box you will find it easiest to you use a short box spanner and yes it is awkard

you have to take the starter out of the car and dismantle it.....it's an integral unit
