The core of the engine is not the same, the 1.8t is a I4 DOHC 20V whereas the 2.0 is an I4 SOHC 8V. You can't just throw on a 1.8 turbo on a 2.0 and call it a day, so whoever put that it is the same is the fool... Not the person asking. That's also why they make two different kinds of aftermarket turbo kits, one for the 1.8 and one for the 2.0, also there are slight variations in the years of the 1999-2001 Golf and the 2001-2005 engines, you can probably find this info on the forums or even wiki should have it,
