The power steering issue in a Vauxhall Vectra 1.9 SRI could be due to several factors, including low power steering fluid levels, a failing power steering pump, or a malfunctioning steering rack. Electrical issues, such as a faulty power steering motor or wiring problems, can also lead to intermittent power steering failure. Additionally, a worn or damaged belt driving the power steering pump might cause the system to lose assistance. Regular maintenance and prompt diagnosis of these components are essential to resolve the issue.
bit of a nightmare to get to, the reservoir is on top of the power steering pump which is located behind the bumper on the o/s/f corner
under drivers wheel arch very tight space.
You can pour fluid into the power steering reservoir. Remove the top to the reservoir and fill to the full Mark on the side of the reservoir.
you power steering fluid may be low, if that was the case then you would have lowerd hydrolic power to steer the wheels and have to compensate by using more force...which may be why your steering is stiff.
If you mean the white one with a black top on it and a torx type depression in the middle of it - it is the power steering fluid bottle. Mounted on top of the electric power steering unit
The power steering pump resivoir.
the sensor is underneath the power steering pump and the alternator, awkward to get to, you may have to remove top fixing for the dipstick housing.
01.02.2013. Vauxhall supply green and red fluid. Local dealership state no brand name on bottle from vauxhall, just 'power steering fluid'. They order it on a vauxhall part number. Green fluid is £15.84 per litre. If you having a service, they should top it up anyway.
The cost of a Vauxhall Vectra power steering pipe can vary based on factors such as the model year, whether it's an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) part or an aftermarket option, and the supplier. Typically, prices can range from £30 to £150. Additionally, labor costs for installation can add to the overall expense if you choose to have it professionally installed. Always check with local auto parts suppliers or online retailers for the most accurate pricing.
