The position lights on my XC70 are the bulbs just above the taillights/brakelights on the rear of the car. I have one that is often going out and generating the position light message. I usually just rap the brakelight area with my fist and the light pops back on. I guess there is a loose connection in there.
position lights are your side lights
There should be a switch that has three positions, one position to have the courtesy lights come on only when doors are opened, another position to turn courtesy lights off completely and another position to have courtesy lights stay on continually.
Turn the lights on then disconnect the battery. This well keep the lights in the up position.
Either the switch that turns the backup lights on is out of adjustment, or has failed in the on position.
you didn't say which lights. is the switch on the dome in the right position
means one or more of six position bulbs are blown (2 tail lights 2 side lights on front bumper 2 side lights in headlight cluster)
To turn on the side lights and headlights in a Range Rover, locate the lighting control switch on the right side of the steering wheel or the dashboard. Rotate the switch to the first position to activate the side lights and to the second position for the headlights. Some models may have an automatic setting that activates the lights based on ambient light conditions. Always ensure the vehicle is in the appropriate position while operating the lights.
