Power Steering fluid is beside the windscreen washer resevoir on the front passenger side of the engine bay.
Not as long as you put the proper fluid into the proper place such as, motor oil into the engine, gasoline in the fuel tank, antifreeze in the cooling system reservoir, transmission fluid in the transmission, brake fluid in the brake system reservoir, power steering fluid in the power steering reservoir, windshield washer fluid in the windshield washer fluid reservoir and don't forget to put blinker fluid in the blinkers! :)
I have a 1999 Lumina LTZ and the the power steering reservoir was impossible to find. Much like the other components in this monster 3800 engine like the battery hidden under the washer fluid....the power steering reservoir is located underneath the alternator. Be careful that when you remove the cap you don't get debris from the top into the reservoir.
Some vehicles like Honda have filters in them, which cause noises, restrictions and other problems.
It would be located over on the right (passenger) side of the car, and it will usually be a semi-white reservoir, with a black cap. The top of the cap should even say "power steering" on it. The only other reservoir that would be on that side of the car, would be the window washer fluid, and it would be a much larger reservoir, white, with a bluish tint because of the fluid color. It would be pretty hard to get these two confused.
The Clutch fluid (same as break fluid) is located in the Master Cylinder directly in front of the steering column on the other side of the fire wall under the hood.
The first thing to check is the power steering fluid level. If the reservoir is low add some. Other then that, it can be the power steering pump is going bad, and will need to be replaced soon.
Open the hood and look for something that has a steering wheel on the cap. There are 2 reservoirs that look similar, one is for the power steering the other is for the hydraulic cooling fan. And no I'm not lying about the hydraulic cooling fan.
The power steering reservoir will be on the passenger side of the car, under the hood, towards the back of the engine. The cap is a little bit bigger then a silver dollar and has the dipstick made as part of the cap. Unscrew the cap and this is where you add the fluid to the reservoir. DO NOT FILL THE RESERVOIR COMPLETELY FULL. The dipstick will be marked hot & cold or add & full Look at the marks on the dipstick, see where your oil mark is on this gage then add your fluid. After you add your fluid, start the engine turn you steering wheel all the way from one side to the other a couple of times to remove any air, then recheck your fluid level. Hope this helps you.
it seems that the safe and easy procedure for changing out the power steering fluid, assuming there are no other issues, is to(with engine off) remove the old fluid from the reservoir with a siphon bulb and refill with fresh. start vehicle cycle the steering wheel back and forth for a minute or two. kill engine and repeat until your heart is content(more or less).
Depends on the vehicle. They are turned by the engine to build pressure by a belt. Most have the reservoir for the fluid attached to them and have 2 hoses (one is the pressure line and will be a metal and rubber line that is permanently crimped together and the other is the return line and will be a rubber hose clamped on to metal fittings on both ends) that go from the reservoir to the steering gear box or rack and pinion unit.
You either have no/low power steering fluid in your car, or there is some other problem with the power steering, such as a leak in the tube.
i kept it to 3 quarters other wise the steering motor will be noising
