Incorrect refrigerant charge?
The 1997 Volvo 850 evaporator drain tube is located on the bottom of the air conditioner compressor. The evaporator drain tube carries condensation away from the engine.
The 850 does not use a MAP sensor. It uses a MAF sensor that is located and attached to the air filter housing lid
I have found 2 cans of r34 restore the A/C on my wife's 1994 850 wagon. I purchased a recharge kit a few years back, followed the instructions and it works fine.
Begin by connecting your Freon bottle to the low pressure port on the top of your air-conditioner compressor. Release the Freon into the compressor. A recharge kit will make this process extremely simple.
The smoke is actually water vapor. This typically occurs during periods of high humidity. It could also be the result of a damp cabin air filter or a blocked condensate drain.
This is actually a trick question. There is NO High Pressure Port on the Volvo 850 Turbo. Service is done by connecting to the Low Pressure Side and using this access to both Evacuate and Service. Chrysler for a few years did not use a High Pressure Port and required connecting a Scan Tool to the OBDII Connector and taking readings this way but Volvo does not even offer this option. Todd
960 S90 does not have a cabin air filter, Volvo started putting them in the 850 deries
The 1997 Volvo 850 low pressure port is located on the air conditioning compressor. The low pressure port will be on the right hand side of the compressor.
In the Volvo 850, the air conditioning system's components, including the compressor, are typically located in the engine bay, near the front of the engine. The AC controls are found on the dashboard, allowing you to adjust settings for temperature and fan speed. The air conditioning system uses a series of hoses and lines to circulate refrigerant between the compressor and the evaporator, which is located inside the cabin. For maintenance or repairs, accessing the compressor may require removing engine cover components.
A leaky mass airflow sensor or it can be a leak in the air intake hose.
Evaporator drain hose routes water from the bottom of the air conditioner compressor to the bottom of the engine compartment. The drain tube will be on the bottom of the air conditioner compressor.
