There is a crankshaft position sensor that measures how fast it rotates
In the distributor.
Behind the harmonic balancer (dampner) that is located behind the crankshaft pulley.
inside the distributor
On a 1991 Oldsmobile Cutlass Calais with a 2.5-liter engine, the crankshaft position sensor is typically located near the bottom of the engine, often mounted on the engine block or transmission bell housing. It is positioned close to the crankshaft to accurately monitor its position. You may need to access it from underneath the vehicle for better visibility and reach.
Driver side of the bell housing.
There are a few reasons. crankshaft position sensor, faulty fuel pump, fuel pump regulator, throttle position sensor, oxygen sensor. Need to have it diagnosed.
To install a crankshaft position sensor in a 1991 Mitsubishi 3000GT, first, disconnect the battery to ensure safety. Locate the sensor, which is typically mounted near the crankshaft pulley; remove any necessary components obstructing access. Unscrew the old sensor, disconnect the wiring harness, and replace it with the new sensor, ensuring proper alignment. Finally, reconnect the wiring, reassemble any removed components, and reconnect the battery.
The first place I would look would be the crankshaft position sensor
Crank sensor is in the top of the transmission housing at the back of the engine. Cam position sensor is in the distributor.
