The 450SL runs poorly when the throttle body plug is not connected because this plug typically supplies essential signals for fuel injection and air intake management. Without this connection, the engine may not receive the correct amount of fuel or air, leading to poor performance, rough idling, and potential stalling. Additionally, the engine control unit (ECU) may not function properly without the necessary feedback from the throttle body, further exacerbating performance issues.
To adjust the throttle body on a 1978 Mercedes 450SL, first ensure the engine is turned off and cool. Locate the throttle linkage and check for any play or binding, then adjust the idle speed screw to set the desired idle RPM. If necessary, you can also adjust the throttle position by loosening the bolts that secure the throttle body and repositioning it slightly. Always recheck the idle speed after making adjustments and ensure all connections are secure before starting the engine.
The only sensors that I am aware of on the throttle body is the throttle position sensor.
The air intake filter assembly would be connected to the throttle body.
The throttle plate is inside the throttle body on the intake manifold. The throttle cable from the accelerator peddle is connected to the throttle plate shaft on the throttle body. If you remove the air cleaner hose at the throttle body, you will see the disc shaped plate.
If you follow the throttle cable, it is connected to it. also has a large 3 inch black hose connected to it.
located right of the exhaust manifold and connected to the throttle linkage.
A fuel injector pulse is the product of an electrical charge controlled by the ecm to briefly open an injector. If the engine is throttle body injected, you would find the injectors in the throttle body.
In front of the Plenum cover connected to the throttle body
Under the throttle body. Upper radiator hose is connected to the housing
It is called the intake manifold.
The tps (throttle position sensor) would be found on the throttle body, opposite side where the throttle cable is connected.
The throttle position sensor (TPS) on a 2008 Saturn Astra is typically located on the throttle body, which is situated on the intake manifold. It is usually mounted on the side of the throttle body and is connected to the throttle plate. To access it, you may need to remove any coverings or components that obstruct your view of the throttle body.
