If the fan does not stop running after the engine is shut off in the Renault Scenic 2000, there could be a problem with the fan relay switch. The fan relay switch is located in the fuse box.
It is Radiator fan which shuts on and off automatically because there is a timingdevice which operates the fan to keep the engine coolant cool in extreme temperature.
Cooling fan is designed to come on when A/C,defroster, or engine temperature exceeds 235 degrees only
more than likely the relay has hung in the closed position. look in the pdc (power distribution center) and locate the relay for the engine cooling fan and try removing it and see if the fan stops
Replace the thermo sensor...
In some vehicles the fan does stay on for alittle bit after the engine has been shut down... if it stays on for along time and wont go off then it might be the fan relay. does the fan eventually switch off by itself?if it does the fan is working corectly.it stays on till the temp is pulled back down to the temp setting.if it does not eventually shut off by it self, you need to have the fan thermostat checked
The operation of the fan is controlled by an independent engine temperature switch. Depending on the temp. of the engine block the fan with switch on/off. It's not uncommon for the electric fan to switch on once you stop the engine because the flow of radiator coolant through the engine stops when you turn the engine off. Without the coolant running through the engine and radiator the temperature of the engine will spike for a short time triggering the electric fan. It should shut off after a few moments.
The engine cooling fan will continue to run because the engine is hot. Once the engine has cooled down the fan will shut off. If it never shuts off you may have a bad temp switch or relay.
check your relay for the cooling fan and fuelpump
If the fan that is running is the radiator fan, this is nothing to be concerned with. Some vehicles have fans that will run even if the car is off. The fans run to cool the engine down. If it continues to run, the radiator fluid may need to be replaced. If the fan that is continually running is the heater/air conditioner fan, there is an issue with the switch that turns it on and off, or in the electrical system. This can be checked by a mechanic.
If your engine fan turns on when the engine is not running it is because the engine's coolant temperature is above the factory preset level at which the computer turns on the fan or fans to cool the engine back to normal.
The fan should turn off after the engine is shut off. If it stays on, the radiator fan relay has failed.
