Yoga is a wonderful source of exercise. It is not advised to try to get fat by yoga. People who practice yoga find that they burn fat, not gain it.
yoga is just stretching, really. If you want to lose fat, you'll want to do cardio exercises (ANY cardio exercise)

Bikram Yoga burns anywhere from 500-1000 calories depending on how hard you work and what your weight is. It most certainly helps you burn fat if you eat less than what you burn. You can walk 30-40 minutes a day - but that will burn a small fraction of Bikram will burn. People who don't do yoga - fail to know enough to say much about it. Ask your yoga instructor - they will tell you much more about it.
