This will give you a chance to witness the instructor in action to see if they will be a good fit for you.

dont really know either
it depends on what. i have a pitching instructor for baseball and he helps with mechanics and proper techniques. A sports instructor has in interest in the sport and knows different techniques that may be useful to you and so they are like a teacher and they teach you how to improve for example in cricket a coach would tell you how to improve your bowling if you were not getting it straight. However they do not have to know everything about the sport as I am a cricket instructor myself and I am only 15 years old and so I cannot possibly know everything about it, but i do know how to help others with their techniques. An instructor does need a qualification though to become an instructor.
You'll feel it!
You can help yourself in many ways. You can get an instructor and you can find them at most clubs. You can also get a DVD on instructions and get the last laugh on your caddy.
