Well, it really depends on how your physical body is built at the time you run it. For example, if you are overweight and try to run 4 miles i don't think that is a great thing for you to do ... if you are seemingly skinny or lightweight i wouldn't recommend running that distance until you put on some weight because you don't want to lose fat or you will end up looking like a stick with eyes.. :P :) but if you are an average person with average muscles and run 4 miles or any other distance yes it is great for you. terrain is also a major factor. Anyway if you are an inexperienced runner i would say build up from a mile to 2 miles and make it like stairs to reach your goal. if you run on a normal basis then go for it but just make sure you bring water because you will get thirsty after that run.
