No eating food before you run is bad it can give you stitches, slow you down and make you feel sick. It is best eating food such as oatmeal or other healthy foods after your run while your metabolism is at high levels this allows your body to replace any used minerals or nutrients it used during the run allowing your body to recover from the run.

First of all oatmeal because it keeps you full so you won't eat other items before the run! Lots of water(but not to much) fruits, nutrition bars, no sugary food like some cereals, and pop tarts. Also you could have a bagel with low fat cream cheese or none at all. No butter. Or bread with a small amount of jelly, peanut butter, or honey.
