The practice of Karma Yoga is considered to be following the path of ritual action. Each person is considered to have a different Dharma, or law of the universe, that applies to them. Much of this is determined based on conditions you were born into, or the results from Karma accumulated from past lives. Karma yoga would be accepting the role you were born into and trying to do that role as best as you can.

Many that follow this path also follow the path of devotion, or Bhakti Yoga, in which they try to adhere to the wishes of a particular divine being or god.

There is often a mixture of paths when it comes to Hindu religious practice.

Need of research in yoga?

You need Yoga to unite with the Divine. Yoga is not what most people think it is. Yoga is not some physical exercises or asanas. Yoga is not even breathing techniques or some pranayama. The word Yoga comes from the word Yuj which means unification. Just like a SIM card unites with a satellite through a Divine connection, so we need Yoga, the ability to be detached from this material world and attached to the spiritual satellite of the Divine. How do we remain in Yoga? Either through action, devotion, meditation or education, that is: Karma yoga, Bhakti yoga, Jnana yoga or Dhyana yoga. This is the way to Yoga and we need this if we want to be enlightened and liberated with Moksha or Nirvana.

How can you save yourself from karma?

Karma means action. There can be no freedom from action, but we can learn to save ourselves from karma by learning the art of freedom in action. How can we be free in doing action? Every human being who's born has to act. Nobody can escape action but when we act as the body with the mind and ego that is ME, then we create karma. The body dies but the ME is born again and again in a new body. The moment we realize we are not the doer of action, we are not the body that dies, we are not even the mind and ego ME, we are the Divine Soul, then we become an instrument of the Divine. None of the karma belongs to us, we live as a Yogi, united with God, doing Karma Yoga, offering all our actions to the Divine as an instrument, doing His Divine will. This is the way to transcend karma.

What is the aim of yoga?

The word yoga means Yuj. Yuj means union. Therefore the aim of yoga is for us to be in union with the Divine. For us to be ever connected with the Divine. What is the opposite? We are connected to samsara or the world that is called bhoga. So the goal of life is not bhoga, it is yoga. What is the aim of yoga? To be ever united. There are four paths of yoga - Bhakti yoga or devotion, Karma yoga or action, Gyana yoga or wisdom in education, Dhyana yoga or silence and meditation. There are four methods, ways, or paths of yoga. The aim of yoga is to be ever united with God, to be ever connected with God, to feel the Divine presence of God all the time - that is the aim of yoga.

What is a yoga mantra?

What is yoga? Yoga is living in union with the Divine. ‘In union’ means ever connected, not as a body and mind, but as the Divine Soul. Therefore yoga is consciousness, consciousness of being the observer, the witness of the mind. What is a yoga mantra? Any mantra that can help us to transcend the body, mind and ego can be a yoga mantra. A true Yogi, if he is doing yoga, lives in the cycle of Karma Yoga - Action, Bhakti Yoga - Devotion, Gyana Yoga - Education, Dhyana Yoga - Meditation. A true Yogi is in constant yoga, and whatever yoga mantra he uses, it hardly matters, provided he is in yoga or union.

How does karma and yoga relate to reincarnation?

Karma is the view of how our actions affect the world around us. In Hinduism (which is one of the religious beliefs that influenced yogic thought) it's our actions, thoughts, words, deeds and influence over others. The belief in reincarnation (which Hinduism also supports) means that we carry the sum total-good or bad-of those influences throughout our reincarnations. In yoga, there are several schools of thought about karma and how to enhance the positive karma you carry. Devotional (Bhakti) yoga is one way. Another is through performing charitable or devotional acts. IN general, many schools of yogic thought hold that any compassionate action helps support positive karma.
