You just do. You have to stay visibly calm and provide as much support/care that you can. But make sure you do not smother them. Deal with the emotions you feel away from them as long as you can. They will need you in ways you would not have imagined. You will learn a ton about whatever cancer they may have. So again, do not hover over them. Would you you want someone hovering over you? Now imagine how it would feel with cancer.
