Should parents decide the websites browsed by children?

• Definitely parents should decide what websites their children are browsing if they are under the age of 18. There are many dangers on the internet and different Forums that children go too (FaceBook or MySpace) are popular 'chat forums' for children to young adults and even some adults and any forum is a play ground for criminals; child abusers and much worse. No matter how much one's child protests against the rules of the house when it comes to the rules of where they can go on the Internet parents who are good parents will take the beating and keep on ticking! The best way to get around a child on the Internet and the parent worrying about what they are doing is to monitor their actions and give them only so much computer time and there are 'locking devices' where your child cannot access certain websites (if you do not know how to do this phone any computer repair place and they will let you know how to do this.) Parents should learn about the computer so they can trace where their child or children have been on the Internet and help monitor where their children go. It is wise for parents to let their child/children learn by using their brain rather than scouring the Internet for answers unless the teacher has asked that child to use the Internet for their homework. Parents cannot have a watchful eye 100%, but they can narrow the dangers of the Internet for their children by a large percent. In some States and some Provinces of Canada the police have a task force program to try and catch predators of children and ask that parents take an active interest.
