What do you do when your long time boyfriend decides he never wants to get married?

and continue question...My long term.. 4 year boyfriend, says he doesnt want a contractual agreement between people because it ruins things. Its all because of his friends who are all losers who got married and had kids too early in life and are now stuck with divorces and kids they never see. We arent ever having kids but for now I am sticking around even though he doesnt want to get married and waiting to see as he gets into his midlife if it may change. He knows how I feel and the stupid tv shows like platinum weddings and weddings away don't make it easier because that's what I want. A dress and a celebration and a beautiful ring to let everyone know that I have a wonderful man that I love and that I am with. Am I stupid for believing things will get there or smart for sticking it out???

If he still wants to be with you, stay with him, and things may change. He could just be saying that because he isn't sure, or he just doesn't want to tell you he's not ready.

First, you must determine what it is that YOU want out of the relationship. Are you happy and fully satisfied with having a boyfriend / long-term partner? Or do you need to have the title of Spouse attached to it?

If you need a Husband or Spouse in your life, then it may be time to sit him down and have the talk -- and be prepared to move on, should his decision not be swayed.

Keep in mind, however, that many people are happy having a long-term partner. You may, as well. Keep an open mind, and best of luck.

As a man who doesn't want to get married I'd say stick with him. Make sure he knows that you want to get married, and you don't just want a wedding. Given the option of splitting up with my partner or getting married, I know I'd buckle.

If he does give, propose yourself. Him not wanting to get married makes me think he's not one for tradition, by asking him to propose to you he may get the impression that your desire to get married is down to you being narrow minded etc etc.

Finally remind him that when referring to you, his "Life partner" many people will immediately think he is homosexual lol.

Ahhh... Here's an idea: LEAVE! Get real people. If you're not good enough now, you never will be. Have pride and move on. It's OK that they do not want to marry you. Don't ever be angry at someone because your not the one. Thank yourself for being gracious. Tell him thanks for the good times, and check OUT! Someone will love you and fall all over themselves to make you their wife. Anything less is pathetic and sure to end in disaster.

Maybe he's not ready to be married. Or then again maybe you should have a talk with him and if you have been engaged for a long while find out why he doesn't want to marry. It might just be that you two are not compatible.

good question, ask him why not? hopefully he will reply for some reasons why he wont marry you, for example, your teeth, then start brushing your teeth really well.

also, look for another guy, kiss him & your boyfriend will want you all to himself, ps: make sure your boyfriend is watching when you flirt with another boy.

Guys have this slinky method, just like them bouncy slinkies! they go hanging around with other girls, leave him he will think your cool, go off with another boy if hes going off with other girls, when he leaves the girls go up to him & say 'hey babe' the he will come springing back!
