If it is your partner you can ring up your local womens refuge who are fantastic and can offer advice and shelter. Whether it is mental abuse or they hit you it is scary. You may think your going mad, dont know who you are anymore. You are strong but please be careful. They are unpredictable and will do anything to keep you escaping. They may hurt you, plead, threaten suicide etc. Its very serious. Please ring in secret. Do not tell them your leaving and plan your escape. Lots.of.people. Have lost their lives trying to stand up to these bullies. I would say you cant win. They will let you think you have cured them its classic but they will just get worse. If you are away and they.seem sorry dont believe them its just tactics. Be strong and try to stay single for atleast a year so you know you can access help and counselling preventing you from attracting another abuser. I would say the hardest thing.is staying away but if you read books on controllers you will see they wont change without therapy long term and even then it might not work. Even after a few weeks they may be fantastic, attentive everything. I promise it wont last and the abuse will continue in weeks if not days but it will be harder to go next time because you want that person back. Be strong and look after yourself not them.

No, she cannot, without a court order specifically stating that she can. "Mentally abused" is really easy to claim, and really hard to prove. So don't expect to be able to get such a court order.
