It is not healthy to overdoes in fantasy, and many Fairy Tales ( a better term is fantasy tales) have unhealthy doses of impossible situations, bad attitudes among characters, and a logical end-product, Violence, whether the violence is undone by counter-magic or super heroic acts is really not important, there is too much of it in many of them MNon violent problem solving goes undeveloped.
I think stuff that has an historical basis- or may be modernized with time travel or other sci-fi plot devices might be not only benign but great fun and intelligent, this is a good vehicle for the Girl Czarina of all the Russias, for example with the occult angles toned down or cut-out completely.Some Fairy Tales have gratuitous violence and even crude attacks on religion and religious practices, including some Disney fare.
