He pushed him in a river but then he jumped in and saved him because he felt bad.
Lennie and George travel together because they are migrant workers during the Great Depression. George looks out for Lennie, who has a mental disability, and they have formed a close bond due to their shared dream of owning a piece of land. George feels responsible for Lennie and acts as his protector and caretaker.
George was a friend of Lennie's aunt who passed away.
Because of Lennie's simple mind, when Lennie's aunt passed away George promised to look after him and so when ever Lennie gets in trouble George has to help him get out of it. And also when they first come to work at the ranch the boss asks George who Lennie is to him he says hes his cousin. George mainly started looking after Lennie was when they were young George asked Lennie to jump into the river as a joke and he did. George didn't know he would and Lennie couldn't swim either so he had to go save him. from then on he never joked around like that with Lennie again. So not only they are companions but they pretty much family now.
George says that he stopped being mean to Lennie because he realized the impact of his words and actions on Lennie's feelings. He saw that Lennie was genuinely trying to be a good friend and companion, so George decided to be more understanding and supportive towards him.
because Lennie has a really childish mind (of a baby) and an incredible strenght which he cannot control. They are always together also because when Lennie was small his aunt :Clara affided him to George before dying.
Of Mice And Men
they started working. they made of couple of friends. just as things started to clear up, a suspicous woman with no name cam up. she was curley's wife and she was trouble. she started talking to lennie alone one dayand started pushing his buttons. it wasn't in lennie's control, and he started shaking her rapidly. because of lennie's strength, he did kill Curley's wife. wHEN CURLEY AND THE OTHERS INCLUDING gEORGE FOUND OUT, THEY IMMEDIATELY KNEW IT WAS LENNIE AND WENT AFTER HIM. George knew if they had found him, they would either hang him or sent him to a mental institution. both were pure torture, so slowly while explaining the "tending to the rabbits" story to lennie, George shot him.
George gave Lennie to his new boss because they travel and work together as a team, with George looking out for Lennie who has mental disabilities and needs guidance to stay safe and out of trouble. Keeping Lennie by his side allows George to protect him and ensure he is cared for.
How George and Lennie string along together.
George feels that because he and Lennie are family he has to protect him. Also he feel sympathy for Lennie whopossesses the mind of a child. One of the book's themes seems to be loneliness so you could argue that Lennie was also George's companion and they live of each other's strength. (I would give a quote but i can't find my book. The answer is somewhere in chapter 1).
The two main characters in "Of Mice and Men" are George Milton and Lennie Small. They are migrant workers who travel together during the Great Depression, with George looking out for Lennie who has a mental disability.
he doesn't, unless george hammers it into him or unless it has to do with his rabbits <3
