Algae does NOT attract sharks. Fish, sea turtles, marine mammals, and carrion attracts sharks. White sharks are seen in Hawaiian waters, but rarely. Several theories include they follow the humpbacks down on their southward annual migration, mating areas may include the waters between Hawaii and Baja, they're passing through and several others. Truth is no one really knows why they are in Hawaii, but the Hawaiians have a name for them: Niuhi.
