Why do Hermit Crabs have babies under water?
Land hermit crabs don't, they put them on damp sand at low tide, when the tide rises it carries the eggs away.

No, for the substrate you can have coconut fiber. I have half of that and sand.

No. They need to bury themselves in sand, and moonsand pack together too much. You can buy normal sand for a sand box to put them in, though. There is special sand that you can add sometimes to their cage too.

first you need a crab (obviessly) and a GLASS container that is quite big.(they did have thousands of miles before you took them) and sand enough to cover the bottom on a slope .put a peice of plastic in the middle of the tank (so that the water doesnt go away) then pour SALT water into the half without much sand .add coral and ordiments and fake leafs put the crabs in the sand then you need to feed them they eat bacteria out of the sand so you may be able to leave them for a couple of days without food they eat shrimp(small!!) and small fish. feed them 1 a day don't keep them for long or they will die(you can not repeat their habitat )
Will a sand crab die if you put it on water?
Yes, you could possibly drown it. Hermit crabs can only swim in an inch of water. That is unless your hermit crab is huge, it could go in 2 inches. I WOULDN'T RISK IT.
What if you put salt water in the cage then will hermit crabs mate?
They will not move around to much and pertend to die for you to get their attention for a little bit
Is moon sand toxic for hermit crabs?
I suggest that you not use it because hermit crabs sand should be soft and moon sand can be clumped together. If the sand is clumped together the hermit crabs can't dig. The sand you choose is optional just make sure it DOESN'T have the following: make sure it can't be clumped together Make sure you get enough sand that is able to cover double the crab and its shell. There is A LOT more things to learn about hermit crabs so do your homework and get as much info as possible! Also make sure to bathe your crabs, here's how: 1. Fill up a bowl of room temp water( make sure the bowl is big enough to cover the crab fully 2.put 1 crab at a time in the water and let go of them when there at the bottom of the bowl. 3.When u see the crab come out(NOT to where you can see his tushie)(make sure it doesn't come fully out of his shell)so when u see the crab come out(not fully) gently take the crab out of the water and back into the tank

Put the mixture in water and wait for all of the salt to dissolve. Then filter out the sand and wait for the water to evaporate in the sand/water solution to get the sand and salt separately.
How much water in a hermit crabs bath do you have to put in to put in?
It depends on the size of your crab. I would suggest just enough for them to cover the majority of there body but not enough for them to be completely submerged.
How fast does water put out fire compared to sand?
Water would take longer because it is a liquid. Sand would put it out faster
What kind of crab can you put in with your tropical fish?
No crabs cannot live in a tropical tank. If you go to a petstore they will try to sell you small fiddler crabs, however they do not live in freshwater, they live in brackish water like most small crabs. All brackish water crabs need to be able to be out of water for a certain period of time. If you do buy one of these crabs and put them in your tank they will only be able to survive around a month.
