Peanuts, like corn and other crops, can be used to produce fuel instead of food, if that is what you want to do with them. The problem with this approach is that even though we have problems in getting enough petroleum for our needs, the world is also greatly in need of food. Having more fuel and less food is not necessarily a good solution. But technically it can be done.
