You could use parmesan (although it doesnt melt as well) but I would not recommend using mozzarella as it is very different.
Provolone cheese is safe to be used during pregnancy.
Provolone is an Italian cheese made from buffalo milk or cows' milk. When aged for just a few months, provolone is sold as a table cheese; when aged for six months or longer, it becomes a very hard cheese used for grating.
Some popular types of cheese that can be used as a substitute for provolone in a recipe include mozzarella, Swiss, Gouda, and cheddar.
Arrezzio Provolone cheese is an Italian semi-hard cheese made from cow's milk, known for its rich flavor and smooth texture. It is typically aged for varying periods, resulting in different flavor profiles, from mild to sharp. Provolone is often used in sandwiches, pasta dishes, or enjoyed on its own with fruits and nuts. The cheese is part of a family of provolone varieties, including Provolone Dolce and Provolone Piccante, which differ in aging time and taste intensity.
It depends on the dish you are making. In many situations, Provolone could be used as a substitute for Swiss; although the flavor is different, it slices and melts similarly to Swiss. It's difficult to think of any way that Feta could be a good substitute for Swiss.
Usually mozzarella
Provolone cheese is unique because of its semi-hard texture and mild, tangy flavor. It is often aged for a longer period of time, which gives it a sharper taste compared to other cheeses. Additionally, provolone is known for its versatility in cooking, as it can be used in a variety of dishes from sandwiches to pasta.
Gruyere Mornay sauce is a white sauce (butter, flour, milk) with minor seasoning (salt, pepper, sometimes nutmeg) and cheese melted combined into the sauce. Gruyere is the type of cheese most commonly used. This sauce typically is used to accompany vegetables such as brocolli, cauliflower, or baby carrots
The Philly Cheese-Steak sandwich originated when a cook got the idea to to grill up all the scraps from cutting steaks with onions and put them on a hoagie. Today, you can make a cheese-steak sandwich with any strips of meat you want but I am told that the "real" sandwiches are made with the chain--a strip of muscle that runs up the side of the tenderloin and is usually removed prior to using the tenderloin.
Cottage cheese or mascarpone cheese can be used as substitutes for ricotta cheese in a recipe.
You can buy special cheese at stores to melt. It can be many different types of cheese. A traditional recipe calls for quite a large quantity of shredded Emmental and/or Gruyere cheese. Both cheeses melt well and yield a nutty and mild, yet slightly sharp, fondue flavor.
Tofu does not replace any cheese in recipes. It is not spreadable like soft cheese, or will not melt with heat like goat and other cheese, for instance on toasts with honey, or on pizzas. I assume you were not asking about dry goat cheese.
